There are also slice of life elements in Kokoro Connect, but is not the central focus for this anime. The drama is not over the top and does not seem forced at all. This is a positive, because it doesn't seem forced like in other anime. It does not rely on straight gags, and it doesn't try too hard for laughs. Kokoro Connect, synthesizes comedy and drama in a very appealing way. Hyouka's artwork is a marvel to look at since it was animated by KyoAni, but Kokoro Connect's artwork is also very good. When looking at the artwork for Kokoro Connect and Hyouka, the artwork looks strikingly similar to each other, despite being animated by differing studios. It is interesting to note that both also have a comedy more centered on romantic interactions (and on some sexual lines) between the characters, although in Bunny-Girl the humor is much more dependent on the protagonist. Both Bunny-Girl and Kokoro Connect present moments of comedy in conciliation with this more dramatic and serious narrative. These experiences also lead to closer ties between the characters in the cast. In Kokoro Connect, the events are conducted by "Seed Heart". In Bunny-Girl, it is the Adolescent Syndrome. In both works, the dilemmas faced by the characters (and, of course, their resolutions) are strictly associated with supernatural experiences. Bunny-Girl, on the other hand, presents more specific themes and social criticisms, such as deep-rooted bullying, family pressure and comparison between sisters, the compulsive need for inclusion in social groups and networks, the constant dissemination of the body and image without conscience, among other things. Kokoro Connect, for example, addresses personality and identity crises, troubled family relationships, correspondence and past or current relationships. As if this were not enough, these internal problems, in general, represent important parallels with the common problems in adolescence and puberty. Both take place in a school reality in which the characters involved, mostly, present personal dramas that are solved with the progression of the narrative. Since the genres of these works are almost identical, there is little surprise in this recommendation. They’re talking about Boston a good bit - which, for better or worse for us listeners outside of New England, really did help catapult them to stardom. The blue collar work ethic is there in abundance. But this record has just a little bit of everything that will end up making this group the massive success they are today. The Dropkick Murphys now, as in the Fenway-headlining, friends of Springsteen, and The Departed-attached Dropkick Murphys, are a distant thought on The Gang’s All Here. The aforementioned “Boston Asphalt” is about working “18 hour days for the B.A.C” while “10 Years of Service” laments “Who's gonna save us from this lonely picket line/ Ten years of service but I'm still not worth your time.” The band was never shy about politics, but the songwriting got a little tighter on this second record. Certainly, the group’s first record was not without political songs, but on The Gang’s All Here, the sentiment of the working man and his plight are little more on the nose. “Boston Asphalt” is another ripping, sub-two minute track that’s also a good example of the Murphys wearing the working class on their sleeves. The group’s hardcore roots are more on display on this record than their later efforts, but these songs serve a good reminder of the raw energy the band had in its early days. Songs like “Homeward Bound,” or “Pipebomb on Landsdowne” are fast, loud punk rock anthems. Musically, the record is classic early-Murphys. Replacing a lead singer can be extremely difficult, but both in recordings and during live shows, Barr was a more than capable replacement. It’s also of note that while Barr’s vocal style is a bit tougher, a little more of a growl than McColgan’s at the time, he stepped in seamlessly. His vocal delivery complimented Murphys bassist/singer Ken Casey quite well, and on Gang’s All Here listeners were given their first listen to the back and forth between Barr and Casey that still forms the core of some of DKM’s best songs. Barr had been fronting Oi outfit The Bruisers, and when original Murphys vocalist Mike McColgan left the group, Barr came aboard. And the biggest agent of change would come in the form of new vocalist Al Barr. Instead, this, their second album, served as a bridge of sorts, a transitional album that gave us glimpses of what the Murphys would be. In The Gang’s All Here, Dropkick Murphys didn’t give us their best, or even most iconic, work. “Both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL feature Continuum for phones, enhanced by the optional Microsoft Display Dock accessory.
